Consecutive work - Neutralization of smells

Archival documents and books damaged by water or fire may discharge disagreeable smells: smells of smoke and soot in the case of a fire, or smells of faeces in the case of sewerage water damage.

Such smells are neutralized with a special treatment whereby chemical reactions either modify or destroy the molecular structure of unpleasant smells.
